I have over 30 years of experience as a Retail Business Leader across multiple sectors with proven results and accomplishments—not only from a consulting and coaching standpoint—in the trenches, doing the work and understanding every aspect of a successful business. My business success includes hundreds of new retail locations for supermarkets, liquor retailers, consumer home goods retailers, and airport duty-free stores. In addition, I’ve founded and operated several independent businesses, including a real estate brokerage, a hospitality staffing company, a transportation and trucking business, and a consulting firm.

History

For the past 30+ years, I have built a reputation as a turnaround specialist, working with top retail brands, company leaders, and entrepreneurs to help them scale, optimize, and achieve sustainable growth.

I work with teams and decision-makers in the retail sector to help them gain the clarity, confidence, and insight necessary to overcome market challenges, seize opportunities, and, ultimately, achieve their business goals.

From helping retail executives in Fortune 500 Companies skyrocket top-line sales and improve customer satisfaction, I’ve taken many from worst to first and successfully doubled their bottom-line profits. As a project manager for over 250 retail outlets along the East Coast, I have direct operational experience building, remodeling, and renovating physical locations and hands-on experience in elevating teams to become top performers.

Many consultants will start their bios by listing their credentials and certifications—and we’ll get there—but first, I want to tell you a little story about how I realized this was my calling.

Sometime in the early aughts, a young lady I had worked with at a supermarket chain in Connecticut sent me a message on FB. When we worked together, it was early in my career. I was an assistant manager, and she was a nursing school student working as a grocery stock clerk. I could always rely on her at work, and I remembered her well. Anyway, she sent me a message thanking ME for helping her accomplish her goals in life. She said she would never forget me, talked about the type of manager and leader I was, and that I had taught her so much about what it means to be a leader. I have to say, I was shocked. Our store manager at the time was one of my greatest mentors, and I did not think I even partially filled his shoes… but she told me otherwise. At this point, it was several years after our time working together. I had been promoted and recruited to come to South Florida and was making some serious waves in my career. But it wasn’t until that moment that I understood my true purpose, my “why,” my North Star.

It was about the people!

It all came flooding in. All the success and glory I had achieved was because I knew on a deep level that it was never about me—it was always about elevating others. When you care for the people, the big picture becomes much sharper.

I always say, “It was never me. It’s the teams.” But I was the leader who empowered them. And that is what I continue to do.

I have founded, owned, and operated several independent businesses across several sectors, including real estate brokerage, trucking and transportation, and hospitality staffing. Through these diverse experiences, I have come to appreciate the immense potential and unique challenges entrepreneurs and small business owners face daily. They possess the vision, the drive, and the unwavering determination to bring their dreams to life, yet often lack the necessary resources and guidance to thrive in an increasingly competitive world.

My consultancy is tailored to meet these unique needs. Working with retail businesses, some of which were consistently in the red and in danger of closing, experiencing sluggish sales, low service scores, and high inventory losses and shrink, here are just a few examples of what Chris was able to achieve for his retail clients:

  • Increased top line sales by 5% and customer service scores by 25% while reducing inventory shrink by more than 15% in a retail location marked for closure.
  • Restored profitability for a store facing bankruptcy; increased sales by 5% and bottom-line profit by more than 200% in less than 6 months.
  • Improved standards and drove mystery shopper scores from approximately 70% to a consistent 95% or more while improving profitability and keeping this neighborhood store around for a little bit longer.
  • Increased sales by 20% in a failing location that suffered from high shrink and low morale, taking them from $20M to $25M in less than a year. Loss prevention controls we strengthened, earning the location top honors for inventory and shrink results for the entire company.
  • Quickly reversed a sales decline for a “must fix” retail location, from -3% to +3%, a 6-point increase in the first three months. And drove customer service scores from 46th to 6th during the same time.

In addition to being a successful business coach and consultant, Chris has created and run several businesses in multiple niches, including real estate, insurance, staffing, and recruiting.

  • 2014: Launched and operated a Property and Casualty Insurance company operational until 2017.
  • 2015: Launched and operated DS3 Staffing Company in South Florida.
  • 2019: Launched Wise Precision Business Consulting.
  • 2020: Launched Beyond the Storefront Business Consulting.

His work for others includes general management, district trainer, project manager and store director positions for several major multi-outlet retail stores, duty-free stores, and more.

Certifications and Organizations

Chris has completed and been featured in several prestigious coaching and consulting programs, including the Momentum and Clarity Coaching programs through Consulting Success and Jacob Rupp’s 8to8, where he now resides in Rupp’s elite Mastermind Group.

Additionally, Chris is a member of the East Orlando Chamber of Commerce and volunteers with SCORE, a small business mentoring organization, where he works directly with small business owners to help them develop skills for sustainable success.
